NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day 12 – “The Same Can Be Different” by David Ellis – A Found Poem Inspired by “Human Family” by Maya Angelou

Hey there everybody.

I’ve now written my Day 12 entry for National Poetry Writing Month.

I went off prompt and did not follow the theme over at NaPoWriMo HQ but feel free to follow their prompt all the same, here is the link to it. – Day 12 prompt

For my found poem today, I’ve turned to the inspirational and wonderful Maya Angelou and used her poem “Human Family” as my muse.

Here are the words to Human Family, a touching poem if ever there was one about how deep down we are all the same.

And now here is my poem, hope you all like it.

“The Same Can Be Different” by David Ellis

The obvious differences in us are lives lived
As real variety can delight
In every land of the world
Women seen the same are different
And think quite different thoughts
Love, weep, laugh, moan
And thrive on success
Born and die in ways the same
The obvious differences?
We are more than friends
