NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day 20 – “If We Turn Back” – A Found Poem Inspired by “DAAYAN AT GOLD STREAK RIVER” by Raena Shirali

Hey there everyone.

Here we are at Day 20 of National Poetry Writing Month and I’m very excited to share with you another found poem that I’ve just crafted.

Going back through the NaPoWriMo.net prompts, I came across a simply amazing poem for my inspiration by poet Raena Shirali called “DAAYAN AT GOLD STREAK RIVER”, full of rich, evocative imagery that leapt out to me very quickly and captured the muse in my heart.

You can find the lyrics to her poem over here:-

“If We Turn Back” by David Ellis

The river trembles

I trace the ripple

From a distance

Because if our earth again

Tell how the smallness of a living thing

Says we float

And follow the sky

The day dies

If we turn back
