NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day 21 – “The Moon Bites With Spirit” – A Found Poem Inspired by “City That Does Not Sleep” by Federico García Lorca

Hey there folks, so happy to see you all again so soon!

For my Day 21 poem for National Poetry Writing Month, I used a poem mentioned over at NaPoWriMo HQ in their Day 21 prompt post as the inspiration for my own found poem.

It is a powerful piece by Federico García Lorca called “City That Does Not Sleep” and you can find the lyrics to it here:-

“The Moon Bites With Spirit” by David Ellis

The moon will come

And bite with spirit

Beneath the tender stars on earth

Who call out to keep life a dream

We fall down

In order to climb to exist

Kisses feel forever

Death will live in the enraged

Will take refuge in another day

Preserved from silent roses

From the thunderstorm of invention

We must carry the hand of the sleeping sky

If there be bitter wounds in this world

During the night, see in the moonlight

The lying and the poison
