NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day 24 – “Alive, You Rise” – A Found Poem Inspired by “My Last Duchess” by Robert Browning

Hey there everyone.

Welcome to Day 24 of National Poetry Writing Month over here at TooFullToWrite.

I’ve skipped backed through the archives again for inspiration for my found poem and discovered one I fancied using on the Day 15 prompt of the NaPoWriMo.net website.

My inspiration cane from “The Last Duchess” by Robert Browning and you can find the lyrics to that poem here:-

“My Last Duchess” by Robert Browning over at Poetry Foundation

And now, here is my found poem, thank you for reading and hope you enjoy it.

“Alive, You Rise” by David Ellis

As if by design

Depth and passion have drawn you

As they would me

Such a presence of joy

Perhaps too much never was enough

For a heart easily broke

Would at least know a gift

This skill in you

To choose to doubt

But much the same, smile

There, alive, you rise

Below, known of fair self

We’ll together notice rarity
