I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero till the morning light
He’s got to be strong and he’s got to be fast
And he’s got to do NaPoWriMo every night!
Hello friends.
Welcome to Day 18 of NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month).
Firstly the bad news – I have a limited internet connection, so this intro will be a short one.
The good news however is that today
represents a significant milestone (groan) for me – 18 consecutive posts on the trot, last year I only managed 17 in one particular month, now that’s progress!
Now on with the show, since I’m quickly on the move I thought I would write about travel.
If you have a favourite destination where you discovered beauty and wonder, feel free to share it below.
“Passage of a Rolling Stone” by David Ellis
Never happier
Than when I’m moving my feet
My passport to adventure
Keeps desire burning inside of me
I could be learning
Ancient cultures or forgotten histories
Soaking up vivid stories
People’s lives enshrouded in mystery
Making new memories
Just as the old ones begin to fade
On display in my mind as trophies
These journeys are now crusades
I never thought that
When I was growing up
I would place so much importance
On exploring new worlds
When you expand your mind
Take in fresh continents and sights
Horizons become broadened
Expriences take on a bolder light
I found that
Love comes in many guises
An appreciation of art
Transcends all languages
The messages we give out
Can often get confusing
We take unnecessary shortcuts
Trying to reclaim wasted time
When our focus should be in the moment
Exploring further ways to vary mundane rituals
Take flight on a whim, try somewhere different
Pleasure you can’t measure, infinitely medicinal
Congrats on the milestone! I’ve completed 2 NaPoWriMos in the past. Almost finished last year, but the site I was sharing my poems on crashed April 25th and wasn’t back up til end of May. Keep traveling 12 more days to go.
Hey there Veronica – thanl you for the support, I really do appreciate it! Coming up with different themes and not reusing the same lines you have written before can be super tough. I won’t stop fighting though, I can start to see the finishing line! Keep up the good work yourself, look forward to reading more of yours.
Thank you. I don’t worry about repeating lines that is something to look at later when one edits the napowrimo fodder to find gems.
Excellent point 😉
Happy travels! Whether they be short or long 😉
Cheers Jackie 🙂
I have never had to pass a stone… Ha! I kill me…
Amen to that 🙂
yup
Totes
toads
Lick one and see what happens
I done worse
