NaPoWriMo – Poem / Poetry – “Hot Or Cold, You’re Gold”

I’m smitten with kittens but dogs also do the job.

Hello everyone and welcome to Day 20 of NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month).

Check out today’s prompt over at the official website:-

NaPoWriMo Day 20 – Time for the next entry

I’ve decided to write something that was inspired by Easter (nomnomnom!) and also imagined as if this were another love song being crooned by Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra (both musicians provide fantastic inspiration). Hope you find this number delicious – take it away boys!

“Hot Or Cold, You’re Gold” by David Ellis

Give me a little sugar
To make the time fly by right
Pour it right into me
Why not keep me up all night?

I’ll take you hot or cold
These lips wrap around so tight
You’re all natural
I’m lost just after one bite

I often feel like a slave
When you dig your claws firmly in
I try to resist your wily ways
Yet the temptation is far too strong

I’ll take you with some coffee
We’ll down a few liquors
Perhaps a slice of cake
You complement everything of course

Some say you’re so gothicly dark
With a power so rampantly raw
If they let you in and you engulf them
They can’t cope with your fatal flaws

I say to hell with it
Throwing caution to the wind
Tomorrow the guilt may overwhelming
But tonight we’ll indulge in sin

Devouring each other
Until there is nothing left
You speak a language in my ear
Whispered without a shadow of doubt
You’re candy to me, my dear
You melt in my mouth
