Hello there poetry pals!
It’s Day Seven of NanoPoblano AKA National Blog Posting Month (but with a group of colourful individuals teaming up as Cheer Peppers of many different textures and flavours!) and I’m back with yet another video session to tantalise your eyes.
Check out the Facebook Live performance of my latest poem.
Today I was inspired by a napowrimo.net prompt regarding luck and fortuity to write this little beauty.
If you would like another alternative prompt to help you write, you could always try either OctPoWriMo 2017 or another one from Robert Lee Brewer at Writers Digest who has some “Two For Tuesday” action going on (sadly not pizza-pie, just pizza prompts…without the pizza):-
2017 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 7 By Robert Lee Brewer
And here is my poem in written form, just in case videos are not your thing and you prefer to jam to the words instead. Mmmmmm jam 😉

“The Nature And Essence Of Fortune” by David Ellis
There is only certainty in uncertainty
Inebriation
Kingdoms sink from the weight of their own bones
At odds with the truth
The glory of being honest
To be safe or to hug an ambitious breeze
The spirit of equality
Acceptance of indulgence
The burden of proof on one’s own shoulders
Warped are rewards that favour the wicked
Therefore, why not stand as a symbol for morality to others?
To think for ourselves feeds knowledge and beliefs
Senses invoking familiar spirits in our time of need
Complexity is not a reason to play the game
Rather than cause something to happen
Adapt, flow, keep those who are vulnerable from harm
We should try not to resist inevitable change
Unless it is itself blind to justice
Hopes and dreams of love personified
Both devil and angel
The nature and essence of fortune

Such a beautiful line: “Warped are rewards that favour the wicked”
That is my favourite line too – I knew it was going to be the centrepiece for the poem the moment I wrote it 🙂
I love that you’re using the #OctPoWriMo prompts. They brought me a lot of writing last month! Here’s my day 7: https://procrastinationcoach.wordpress.com/2017/11/07/mount-doom-crumbled/
I think of the three prompt websites that I use, the OctPoWriMo prompts have been the most useful, consistent and offer variations that some of the others don’t really provide. When a form on its own is suggested then I have to go hunt for a theme and vice versa. It can all be very exhausting. TY for reading my bits and bobs Angela, I will catch up with all of yours soon too 🙂
You probably have a rather busy time, with all the writing, linking up, reading, and replying. Take your time! Though I’ll admit I love to talk with you. We tend to have meaningful conversations 🙂
I’m actually trying to comment on a lot more blogs this time round than the previous times. It means that I am working a few days behind on replying but I want to make the effort for the month. I fear that after November I won’t be able to keep up the pace but I am sure by then I will have ascertained who I religiously want to follow and who’s content I am really enjoying 🙂 And yes, I love our conversations too, they are very easy going, fun and insightful too
This was enchanting! 😊
TY Di, appreciate you taking the time to read it and glad you enjoyed it a lot 🙂 I’m having a huge amount of fun choosing the pictures for these. I hope I can keep stoking the fires of inspiration all throughout the month, at least we are a third of the way there now 🙂
