Hello there poetry peoplepersons!
It’s Day Nine of NanoPoblano AKA National Blog Posting Month (but with a sprinkling of Peppers of the Cheery yet mighty spicy variety!) and I’m back with yet another video – woohoo!
Check out the Facebook Live performance of my latest poem.
As mentioned in the video, this poem was heavily influenced by the songs of Chris Cornell. I’ve been so sad since his passing earlier this year, he had such an amazing voice and way with words, I encourage anyone who has not heard of him to listen to his songs.
If you want to try out the prompts on alternative websites and craft something yourself then here are the typical terrific trio that I tend to choose from:-
2017 November PAD Chapbook Challenge by Robert Lee Brewer at Writer’s Digest
And here is my own poem in written form from the video for you to explore at your leisure.

“Song In The Key Of Midnight” by David Ellis
Restless moments
The door is now open
I’ll save my breath, knowing
Midnight is playing our song
Blooming together, forever
In sweetest euphoria
All I see are sparks and stars
Smiles that feel so dangerous
There will be a time
When the morning
Brings the dawn, kicking and screaming
Laying it out at our very feet
We’re safer in here, just being ourselves
Comfortable in our own skins
Chasing away the regrets of the past
When we’re gone and everything is said and done
All that will be left is the shape of love
The hidden corners felt all around
Lighting every dull shadow
Filling every errant heart
Inside you lies the key
And when tomorrow is found
If I had nothing left but your name
Hope is rescued from the flames
My soul can now rest easy again
Forever waiting for our midnight song
