Hey there chaps and chapesses.

Welcome to Day 21 of my NaPoWriMo extravaganza, as we enter the final third leg of the month.

The specific prompt for this one over at NaPoWriMo HQ is to play with the myth of Narcissus.

Rather than write something directly about the myth or the person themselves, I’ve used a lot of writing about the myth to fashion my own romantic poem because that is the way I roll!

“On The Edge Of Unknown Desires” by David Ellis

A flower grows from such a fragile place

Freshly painted scenes of rippled marble

Blind metamorphosis beneath the surface

Sweet hopes rise, full of longings waiting to be satisfied

 

Silent paths speak of flames and frenzied love

Blushed faces hiding behind the gentlest of caresses

Vintage thirsts reflected in the waters of twin souls

Sensations of supple softness overwhelming the senses

 

Mood and spirit seared deep into passion filled tongues

Allurement in eyes echoing endless beauty of those they consume

On the edge of unknown desires, time no longer seems to move

In the wilderness is a voice getting ever more seductive with its tones

 

Nothing remains except this

All that lives now are silver-clear thoughts

The place where flowers grow

White around gold

Mouths dreaming of smiles are now nourished at long last
