Hello my friends and welcome to you all once again. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I will begin.

I have decided to take on a challenge.

No!

I’m not going to give up biscuits for a day, you cruel person! Do you have no shame? Don’t you know that they are the very essence of my work? Are you some kind of despot that wants to halt the creative flow that bubbles forth from these hallowed halls like a rabid volcano?

Blimey! Sorry for that, I do apologise, it’s 6pm and I still haven’t bought any biscuity loveliness yet – as you were then.

So this challenge thingamabob was laid out by We Poets Show It and they have asked for a poem to be created out of using nothing but a blog post (I know, right! Crazy! But fun nonetheless)

The blog post in question was created by the very clever and talented Rarasaur and I’m proud to announce that I used nothing but the words in her post to make another different beast entirely.

The Person Who Remembers

So without further ado, behold a masterpiece painstakingly constructed piece by piece, brick by brick like the beautiful offspring of Picasso’s garden wall and a Feline Frankenstein (just go with it – thank you).

“A Felicitous Word” by David Ellis

A wish made on someone, in summer years ago
Face scrunched up, sparkling eyes, a beautiful nose
Simple things that go unnoticed by the world
I could never forget the virtue of this girl

Keeping an old picture of her in my wallet
Private comments made us silent for a moment
Wrapped her up in a flurry of hugs and kisses
Holding hands like normal people, as always

No song could match our important first date
Memories tattooed in gold you couldn’t erase
Celebrate small things, including the beginning
Humanity is a gift that is a part of living

That newspaper and the number written inside
Stories so heavy, threaded, surviving time
Different man, safe location, a holiday with no names
Sat down happily by each other on the living room couch for days

We exist and then tomorrow is cut off
“Remember!” they said, all foggy, militant
It was a misted, colorless picture
The smile in their eyes years ago as they once were

This is why we made a long list
So we could dance in the light of the moon
In the event of a big deal or situation
Family celebration is magical at fixing all that is wrong
Doctor, teacher or philosophical leader
They will all tell you the same
Everywhere changed
And no-one breathed a felicitous word

Well, I guess that just about wraps it up….Wait, there’s a Daily Prompt about Metamorphosis – how handy! I think we shall have a little slice of that!

  Thank you very much, always nice to get a compliment from a peer 🙂 – did you like the picture that I chose for the piece? It’s the Tree of Life and it’s adorable how the dinosaur inspired/evolved all of the other animals/mammals in the picture, which I thought was an amusing nod in your direction and how your piece inspired me!
