Here we are at Day 7 of NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) and I’m still banging out these beauties like there is no tomorrow (unfortunately there is – I fricking hate deadlines but if I didn’t have one, I’d never get anything done).

The challenge (if you can’t be bothered to click on the link above because that is an awful amount effort for you, you poor, wittle baby) is to write a love poem with a twist. Except I’m not going to tell you what the twist is until the end. You’re welcome!

I’d go nuts over you
Skin sweeter than sugar
You’re anything but plain vanilla
So cool, you make me shiver
Our relationship started
On a rocky road
Until you became minted
I fell head over heels
Your curves rocked my world
Raising me from my troubles
We’ll go for coffee afterwards
Around you, all my entendres double
No-one could split us like bananas
Peeking at nothing but the skyline
Buttering each other up
Smooth as purest silk
It is often that I find you
Naked as the day you were born
I wrap myself in a passionate embrace

I’ve tried all the flavours
Everything you could possibly imagine

That no-one understands

Well – no I didn’t click the link – so had to go by what you gave – but as soon as I started reading – I *knew* you were talking about ice-cream — chuckling madly – but still – loved the imagery and sensuality of the work – makes me want to run out and grab some sweet sugar right now. 🙂
Hey Patricia – yes it was a bit blatant. I was going to do something around cakes but ice cream seemed like a good one to whet my appetite with after I thought about all of the flavours 🙂 It’s the subtle lines that were my favourites like the one about peeking at nothing (which I got from the pecan nuts flavour – it was the gift that keep on giving!)
