“The Only Light That Matters In My World” by David Ellis
You are important to me
You always have been
When you’re not there
A massive hole presents itself
I’m no longer in control of my world
Your devilish grin lights up
The whole room we’re in
Every inch of darkness
Banished, as your beauty blossoms
Radiating purity like there’s no tomorrow
Your feelings mean something
They carry weight in ways
That are difficult for those
On the outside looking in
To fully comprehend and understand
The lengths I would go to for you
Your voice makes a difference
Whatever you have to say
The words spill out harmoniously
All warm, honey-coated and glazed
You could read the phone book all day
I would still be in awe and infatuated
Your story has substance
From the whole thing
To something so simple
Like where you come from
What you ate for breakfast
To what’s been bugging you today
Every little detail is magical in its own way
Your life is all that matters to me
To help you on your path
Is the greatest privilege
In which I can partake
Your friends, your family, all of us
Colour each picture of our journey
I take pleasure in painting this epic portrait
Keep on knowing that I always will
Be there for you in heart, spirit, adventure and thrills
You’re the only light I’ve ever known
The only light that can be seen in my world
From now until the end of time
Great poem David! Very beautiful.
Lots of love
Patty
Hey there Patty – so sweet of you to say so, thank you so much for reading and commenting. Have a great evening 🙂
My story has substance… and substance abuse… HA!
Your story would make an excellent Broadway musical
It really would…
We should write it together
yeah we should
How very romantic. Serious, yes, but so sweet. Nicely done! 🙂
Thank you so much Jackie for your lovely comment – that was my aim and it was fun writing it – another pearl in the NaPoWriMo crown I think 🙂
oh for sure another pearl in that crown! 🙂
Beautiful..almost as if you were directly speaking this to someone you have longed to tell these words too. Hopefully there is that special someone to you that gets to hear the passion from you.
Thank you for your kind words, I enjoy putting passion into my prose. Yes, as you say, hopefully someone special will get to appreciate my words one day, just like you have done 🙂
Well, until then, keep pouring your heart out for us to enjoy!
Will do – looking forward to it 🙂
A beautiful poem of passion shinning bright with feeling of intimacy.
Thank you for the lovely comment – I really felt it when I wrote it and I’m glad that people see the true sentiment behind it.
