Hello dear friends and brethren of this realm!
It’s Day Eleven of NanoPoblano AKA National Blog Posting Month (but with a generous handful of Peppers!) and I’m back with another video for y’all.
Check out the Facebook Live performance of my latest poem.
This particular poem was inspired about the relationship that we have with our inner muse. My one is particularly sassy, so I thought she should enjoy the limelight tonight!
If you fancy some alternative prompts to help you write poetry this month (or whenever you are reading this, for all I know you could be a race of space aliens checking this out in the future and believe me there are better things to do with your time but never mind) then check out these little beauties below:-

And here is my poem in written form because I’m sure the lyrics will have you chuckling and scratching your head in amazement (or possibly pity but it’s all good, help yourself!)

“I’ve Only Got Eyes For Muse” by David Ellis
My muse must be seduced
If I am to bring home the bacon
The both of us must let off some steam
Bursting bubbles, shattering illusions, burning the candle at both ends
Dancing on the brink, rummaging through everything but the kitchen sink
Then we searched through that too but it stank
Back to the drawing board before we get so bored we can’t even see straight
Because seeing is believing
And I can’t believe what I’m seeing
Seeing the error of ways by which way the wind is blowing
This hurts me more than it hurts you
There’s something in my shoe
With my muse cut loose there’s only lemons and vinegar and unvarnished truths
It’s like living with a party animal armed with a dictionary under the same roof
But who am I to stand in the way of progress, the heart wants what the heart wants
Even if my muse is crazy, she’s a part of me that I must obey
Plus fanning those freewheeling, frisky flames can be so damn sexy
So it’s time to reinvent the wheel and fashion it out of cheese
Holding our heads up high, all high and mighty and hoity toity
Sliced bread is the best thing since the last best thing that was invented
And it pretty much goes without being said
Good things come to those who bake cakes
Live your life like there is no tomorrow
Because there isn’t one
Because it doesn’t exist yet, it’s tomorrow, genius
Be a man or a woman of few words
Since when you do say something
People will pay attention
Just look at babies, they practically say nothing and people are all over them
Where does your muse want you to go to today?
It’s as plain and as soft as the nose on your face
Play by the rules and have no fun at all
She’s always got your best interests in mind
Just when you think you’ll never find her in a million years
She swoops in and saves the day
Just don’t ask her to explain herself
A force of nature, that’s how it works
It takes two to tango and when she’s too hot to handle
Seal the deal with your muse with a kiss
Stuff dreams are made of
From start to finish, scared out of our wits
But boy – what a ride it is!
