Hello everybody peeps.
It’s Day Nineteen of NanoPoblano AKA National Blog Posting Month (but with a bunch of Cheery Peppers) and I’m back with yet another video because I really just can’t help myself.
Check out the Facebook Live performance of my latest poem.
I got the inspiration for this particular poem from studying creation myths, at the suggestion of a Day 19 poetry prompt over at napowrimo.net, along with how are feelings are influenced by nature and the elements.
If you would like some alternative poetry prompts to help you write your way through the month (us poets could use all of the help we can get!) then give these links below a little clickie:-
OctPoWriMo Poetry Prompts – OctPoWriMo 2017
2017 November PAD Chapbook Challenge by Robert Lee Brewer at Writer’s Digest
And here is the poem in written form for you to enjoy either in or out of the rain and preferably with a glass of wine or something warm 😉

“The First Time We Feel Rain” by David Ellis
Through sounds or words
Substance from chaos
Speeches and dreams
Awakened metamorphosis
Sacred components of the natural world
Animalistic attractions, rectifying wrongs
On tragedy’s edge, we redeem ourselves
Every truth doubted, profound knowledge
Similarities in differences
Balance and perfection
Sharing the same fates and destinies
The origin of the stars
Those who close their mouths and open their ears
Have nothing to fear with what they will soon learn
Those who see and feel without hate in their hearts
Have power of eternal light over the crushing darkness
The first time we feel rain
Tasting its tangy scent
The whole family drinks
We are no longer alone
The smallest of spirits
Can set fire to water
Inspiring the biggest of ideas
Energising exhausted bones back to life
Illuminating the way to glory
Let rain’s rhythm kiss all of the pain away
Rainbows from sorrow
Nature’s tears delivered straight to your soul
Savour every drop, it all tastes like home
