I’m never going to dance again
My feet have got no rhythm
That’s what happens when you have to get up at 4am
Thankfully for me that is not often!
Hello friends and readerfolk – welcome to NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) Day 24.
Here is the prompt over at the official website (come on people – you know the drill!):-
NaPoWriMo Day 24 – stone the flaming crows
For today’s exercise, I’ve attempted to write something that involves stone masonry.
So for your viewing pleasure, here is my latest poetic endeavour that combines love and concrete in the cement mixer in equal measure – enjoy!
“Stone Cold Devotion” by David Ellis
You, I see you arching your eyebrows at me
Our love is but a mere stone’s throw away
I marvel at the marble of your exquisite eyes
We are building foundations, a relationship of stone
Let me support you in your hour of need
I’ll be waiting for your call, solid, dependable
Never failing to help shape our own destinies
Often simple yet with considerable complexity
We’ve changed, growing stronger with adaptability
Rocking each other’s world in complete harmony
Taking the rough and turning it into smooth
Now we both have the passion of animals
Carving our way together through the world
We found each other through abstract design
A blueprint for a crazy, whirlwind romance
One kiss from you and the walls come crashing down
Quietly reserved yet with a level of sophistication
Every time I look at you, The Renaissance beckons
A statue to match a vision of the Goddesses themselves
You are Venus, older than civilisation itself
Maybe in many years, we will look back
Comparing the material with the physical
Delighting in our decisions based on truths
Architecture starts by placing two bricks together
That’s where the spark begins
Where it becomes a flame
Form follows function
And life takes on a more purposeful light
Great use of the prompt David. You have quite a romantic side 🙂
Thanks for reading as always Jackie. Romance and humour are my two favourite genres 😉
Why thank you Ma’am *tips hat* This comment is awesome Dawn, Romancing The Stone is one of my favourite movies, I could watch it fifty times and not get bored 🙂 Also I forgot to comment on your Lodestar poem, it’s lovely, I read it but haven’t had a chance to comment yet, will rectify that right now!
