Hello there folks,
Today I’m taking a few minutes out of my hectic day to join in the fun over at Colleen Chesebro’s website for her “Colleen’s 2020 Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge”.
I’m going to try my hand at writing a Tanka poem, as I have never written one before.
Just to make things even more interesting, I’m going to make this a found poem too, which was inspired by the wonderful poet Joy Harjo and her poem “Speaking Tree”.
You can find the lyrics to “Speaking Tree” here.
Now, here is my “Found Tanka” poem, thank you for reading!
“Drink Deep” by David Ellis
A shy wind leaves trees
Singing by water, longing
I bear this heartache
To the edge of the river
Dance in this land and drink deep
If you too want to participate in the challenge yourself then you can find the link to the current one here:-

David, I learn so much from you! This Tanka speaks to my soul. I love the imagery and rhythm of your words. Found poetry is pure inspiration. I love it!
